As DFW homebuilders, Normandy Homes knows that Thanksgiving is a time to come together with those you hold dearest whether it be friends, family or both. That’s why our modern home designs and open floor plans are perfect for hosting this wonderful holiday! Not only is Thanksgiving a time to give thanks, but many families also have some great traditions surrounding the occasion. If you want to start some Thanksgiving traditions of your own, here are a few ideas!

Create a Family Tablecloth

While this may seem more like an activity for the youngest members of the family, you’d be surprised just how much fun everyone can have with this. All you need is a plain white tablecloth and fabric markers. Have each person draw a little image and then sign it, date it and put what they’re thankful for.

Pin the Feather on the Turkey

A fun little Thanksgiving twist on the classic pin the tail on the donkey, pin the feather on the turkey is a fun way to pass the time while people are waiting to eat. Have them put on a blindfold and spin around for five ‘gobble.’ After they’ve spun around, straighten them out in front of the turkey and let them loose to see how close they can come to pinning the feather on the turkey!

Volunteering is probably one of the best traditions you could start. Not only are you giving back to your community but you’re also showing your children the value of helping those who are less fortunate. There are plenty of places in Dallas-Fort Worth to volunteer at during Thanksgiving time.

These are just three of the many different types of Thanksgiving traditions you could start. No matter what traditions you may or may not have, there’s no doubting that the open floor plans and modern home designs of Normandy Homes are perfect for hosting a holiday gathering.
